Persian (local names: فارسی [fɒɾˈsi], Fārsi or پارسی [pɒɾˈsi], Pārsi; is an Indo-European language spoken in Iran (Persia), Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Persian Gulf states. It is derived from the language of the ancient Persian people.
