Devanāgarī (Sanskrit | देवनागरी), in English, or Nāgarī, is an abugida alphabet of Nepal and India.
Script[]
It is written from left to right, lacks distinct letter cases, and is recognizable by a distinctive horizontal line running along the tops of the letters and links them together.
Other uses[]
Devanagari is the main script used to write Nepali, Hindi, and Marathi. Since the 19th century, it has been the most common script for Sanskrit and Pali as well. Other languages using Devanagari are Bihari, Bhili, Marwari, Konkani, Bhojpuri, Pahari (Garhwali and Kumaoni), Santhali, Newari, Tharu, and sometimes Sindhi, Panjabi, and Kashmiri.
